The Last Words of a Union General

Posted by soniccheifx2h2 Apr. 10, 2011 @ 2:43 PM EDT

"They couldn't hit an elephant at this dist-.

* Last words of Gen. John Sedgwick, spoken as he looked out over the parapet at enemy lines during the Battle of Spotsylvania Court House in 1864."

I couldn't stop laughing. I can only imagine the CSA soldier who shot him making several witty remarks at him. Since I tend to imagine that the Civil War functioned like Red vs. Blue (CSA vs. UnionSA, respectively) (I know perfectly well this isn't true, but it's funny), I can see said soldier yelling "Lousy Blue!" in Sarge's voice. And then insulting a lazy CSA soldier for not making such amazing shots, and a suck-up saying "Great shot, sir!" This could even be inaccurate. It's still funny.
